US National, 45 stars and 13 stars.
This flag was used in France at a time when a statue of LaFayette was unveiled. The Statue was a gift of the children of the US to France following the gift of the Statue of Liberty from France to the US. Mr. Crawford was ambassador to France at the time and the flag was given to him. His wife was a school teacher in Ames and eventually acquired the flag. She gave it to the Collegiate Presbyterian Chruch of Ames. The trustees thought it might better be in the hands of the State Historian.
