Description Badge. Pin at top is rectangular-hsaped with a gold-colored, metal filigree border. Inside is an image of to hands shaking in greeting against a white background. Latch back for closure. Attached with link rings is a smaller rectangular-shaped, gold-colored bar with a white center. In black lettering is "COMRADE". Attached with link rings is a metal, gold-colored GAR star. Attached to the back of the top pin bar is a multi-colored (red, white, blue) colored ribbon. In embossed gold-colored lettering is "KINGMAN/POST, NO. 226/G.A.R./SPIRIT LAKE IOWA". Edge of ribbon has a gold braid trim attached. At bottom is a gold-colored, metal bouillon fringe. Also attached to the backside of the pin bar is a alternating gold-colored and black-colored cord with tassel pendants. Object No: 44, old metal tag with ink label

Alfred R. Hatfield was born in Warwas, Kosciusko County, Indiana, December 5, 1841. Enlisted July 9, 1862. Served in Co. K., 5th Indiana Cavalry. Accession Number 31 also associated with this object
