Description Jessie Newlin, a native of Tennessee, Died in the Uion Army (Civil War) February 14, 1862 at Fort Scott, Kansas. He was an attorney in Princeton, Missouri before the War. A Saw and Grist mill built two and one half miles south of Princeton, Missouri by Jessie Newlin is said to date back to 1839 (See page 604 Rogers History of Mercer County, Missouri). Mr. Newlin was the grandfather of Mr.s W.A. Bemis, Bondurant (Willa Audrey Newlin Bemis). Mrs. Bemis donated the picture to the Historical Building. This donation was made when Jack Musgrove was Curator of the State Departmentof History nad Archives.
