Webster County Attorney, 1892-1896. District Judge, 1900-1902. Assistant to United States Attorney-General, March 1910-April 1911. United States Senator, April 1911-1925. Judge United States Circuit Court, 8th District, 1922 and served in that capacity to the time of his death, 19300. Died in Sebasco, Maine, September 9, 1933.
