Object Name Stone
Description From House of Commons, London, England which was wrecked by German bombs, May 19, 1941. The stone was presented to Gov. Robert D. Blue by Lady Nancy Astor, who said "It is to commemorate the men of England and the United States who were victorious in two great wars". Ths stone which Lady Astor meant to present was chipped off in the Nazi air blits of London. It had not aribed, however and Lady Astor presented a token stone. The aboce stonee arrived the next day. The stone is enclosed in a mahogany finish frame covered with glass. Presented by Charles Sumner Bird of Massachusetts, and Eric Gordon Underwood of England through the American and British Commonwealth Association, and Lady Nancy Astor
