Object Name Masher, Potato
Description Potato. Oak. Made and owned by Harrison Butler about 1850 and presented by his daughter Mrs. Sarah Hough, who now lives in Des Moines, Iowa. Harrison Butler was a Hard Shell Baptist Preacher of the old School. He came to Iowa in 1850 from near Madison, Wisconsin crossing the Mississippi River on a flat boat. He settled near West Union, Fayette County, Iowa and lived there until his passing. His daughter, Sarah, lived in Fayette County for ninety-two years before coming to Des Moines to live.
