Object Name Buckle
Description Capt. Allen W. Miller, Co. C, 36th Iowa Infantry (Civil War). He was in an expedition down the Mississippi River in the spring of 1863 and with some 1,200 men was captured April 25, 1864 near Camden, Arkansas and was marched 50 miles without food the night and day afterwards. On July 23, 1864 with Major Hamilton of Ottumwa, Iowa he escaped from prison near Starville, Texas by forging the signature of the governor of the prison to a pass. Capt. Miller died probably from malaria at Unionville, Iowa Sept 17, 1864
