Description Discharge certificate, Samuel Sweazy, enlisted June 5, 1917. "Certificate in lieu of lost of destory discard certificate," issued August 6, 1941. Corporal of Company C, 168th Infantry, United State Army. Honorably discharged May 16, 1919 by reason of demobilization. Prior service in the 2nd Infantry, Iowa National Guard from August 18,1916 to March 23, 1917. Served in offensives at Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and defensives at Champagne-Marne, Luneville, Baccarat, Experance-Souain, Essey-Pannes. Was gassed October 18, 1918 and received a Purple Heart. Served in France during World War I. 10.5" x 8"
